How fast is the shutter speed for Canon PowerShot Pro Series S5 is 8.0MP digital camera?

I'm looking to buy a camera Canon PowerShot Pro Series S5 IS 8.0MP Digital Camera and I need to take pictures very quickly as I am taking pictures of the puppies …. this is a good camera? Also looking to get into photography? Is it good for that? What is the recommended price for one of these babies? thanks

The referred to is actually "no shutter lag and the shutter speed. And there is no such thing as a Powershot 'Pro' Series S5 IS. It's just PowerShot S5 IS. It is basically a point and shoot camera that also happens to have full manual control and a 12x optical zoom. It's a fast enough camera, but will probably be very disappointed with their pictures indoors in low light (just over ISO 200 to 400 is too noisy). A better camera for "Enter the picture is a digital SLR like the 400D (XTi) or 450D (XSI). With the right lens, you'll be fine for shooting indoors, hand and without flash. And, these cameras do not even have to worry about shutter lag … because they have none. However, I doubt you're ready for a DSLR digital … The S5 IS should be fine, provided you keep the ISO low and make sure you have plenty of available light.
